What is the Bible about? The Bible is the Word of God

It is vital and necessary to meet the Author if you are to understand the Bible.

“In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

Jesus is the Word of God. One can never understand the message and intent of the Bible, unless you have a redeeming encounter with its Author. We can’t expect to know the Bible without knowing the God of the Bible.  If you haven’t encountered the Author of the Bible before: start at Session One – Part One of the ‘Living Free’ series.

The Bible contains the words of God, inspired by God. His words are powerful because He is God.

What is the value of the Word of God, the Bible?  Here are just some expressed:

The Word of God, the Bible, helps lead us to salvation, eternal life

Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and trusts him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24)

The Word of God, the Bible, is alive and brings conviction

“What God has said isn’t only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.” (Hebrews 4:12)

The Word of God, the Bible, equips us for every good work

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The Word of God, the Bible, contains food for our spirit

Jesus said, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

The Word of God, the Bible, produces faith

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
