Christian Ministry – Those in the Army of God

Click here for 1-6 – The first part of this study on POSITIONS IN THE ARMY OF GOD.

1.7  Christian Ministry – FIGHTERS IN THE ARMY

Fighters are those who confront the enemy.

A. Through intercession – by attacking the strongholds and pulling them down, as found in 2 Corinthians 10:5.

B. Through singing – by binding up the powers of darkness, as found in Psalm 149:8.

C. Through evangelism – by seeing individuals rescued from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

D. Through teaching – by bringing every thought captive to obey Christ, as found in 2 Corinthians 10:5 also John 8:32

C. Through pastoring – by praying for individuals to be set free from oppression of the enemy.

Jehu had the right fighting spirit ‑ he had the Elijah anointing.

Jehu was anointed to destroy witchcraft in Israel. (1 Kings 19:16‑17.)

Do you have that `something’ that rises up inside you that wants to totally destroy the kingdom of darkness ‑ then you have the anointing of Jehu, to be a fighter in the army!

1.8 Christian Ministry – SINGERS IN THE ARMY

Singers have the responsibility of ushering in the presence of God.

2 Chronicles 5:13. “The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple.”

2 Chronicles 20:21‑22. “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lords and to praise Him for the splendour of His holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever. As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were all defeated.

These verses speak for themselves of the power of praise in the army. God needs singers in the army, to usher in His presence!

1.9  Christian Ministry – HELPERS IN THE ARMY

Helpers have the responsibility of assisting the army.

1 Samuel 30:24. “The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to battle.”

THE SHARE IS EQUAL FOR THOSE WHO KEEP WATCH.

Colossians 4:2. “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

The term `watching’ is a reference to spiritual sensitivity to what is happening around.

Ephesians 6:18. (Amp.) “Pray at all times ‑ on every occasion, in every season ‑ in the Spirit, with all (manner of) prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding on behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”

Paul’s instructions here are to watch and be alert ‑ to find specific `on target’ prayer needs.

God needs helpers in the army! WHATEVER YOUR GIFTING ‑ GOD NEEDS YOU IN HIS ARMY

1 Chronicles 12:14. “These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army; he who was least was equal to a hundred and the greatest to a thousand.”

Just think – if you feel the least of all in the army you are equal to one hundred other people. So do not under estimate what God can do through you.

Moses saw himself as inadequate – Exodus 4:10: “Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow in speech and tongue.”

In Acts 7: 22 the Holy Spirit tells us a different story: “Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.”

Joel 3:9‑10. “Proclaim this among the nations: prepare for war! Arouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack..” “Let the weakling say “I am strong!”
